This post is also available in Danish.
This beautiful fabric flower is easy and quick to make and you can use what you already have at home. It is a perfect upcycling project.
I use it as a decoration, especially on my crocheted dresses, made from an upcycled men’s shirt and a crocheted (or knitted) yoke. You can thus match the fabric of the flower with the same fabric as the dress. You can read more about the dresses here (in Danish). You can find my pattern for the dress in English on Etsy.
This video I made shows you how to make the fabric flower:
You will need:
- scissors
- an iron
- pen
- needle
- matching sewing thread
- button
- glue, e.g. textile glue
- hair elastic
- scrap fabric (woven), e.g. from a men´s shirt
- crochet needle (not for crocheting, only as a helping tool)
The flower can be used on a dress, as a regular hair elastic, or on a hair bow. You can move the flower from one piece to another. It is not permanently attached.
It can also be made without a hair elastic and decorate e.g. hats etc. It can be used to cover a stain, a small hole or a repair that you don’t want to be seen.
Hope you can get good use of the pattern.
Kind regards,
Jessica
SySL redesign
I did not design this fabric flower and can not find the original designer. I have come up with the idea to add a hair elastic so it can be used for several purposes.
